About Us



Diliana Alexander – Executive Director

A long-time TV and film director and producer, Diliana Alexander moved to Miami to pursue a Master’s Degree in Film. Upon her graduation, she decided to make Miami her home and to accept the Executive Director position at IFCM Corp, once it was established as a non-profit organization in 2012. Diliana programmed the Miami Short Film Festival in 2011 and has been a part of the Miami International Film Festival team for the last two years. She has also worked with the Toronto International Film Festival, Hot Docs Festival, Festival de Neuvo Cinema and Sicilian Film Festival. Diliana has produced three award-winning shows: Outlaw In-Laws For Slice TV, Party Mammas for Slice TV and Designing Spaces for TLC. She has directed three short films and two short documentaries: Lab Rats, Basebin, The Treasure, Scales of Balance, A Lost Page in American Music and We Were Here. She has been the “go to” Assistant Director and Producer for many films in Miami: Stasis, Grace, Carlos and Semper Paratus are just some examples. She is currently producing her first feature film, Larry.

Jose Jacho – VP Operations

Born in New York, Jose Jacho made South Florida his home at a young age. A filmmaking renaissance man, he has taken on nearly every role behind the camera, from script supervisor to producer, though his greatest strength lies in the director’s chair, where he’s helmed such projects as Twisted Lives Endless Secrets, In Blood, and the award-winning Skip Nation. In 1999, he founded Indie Film Club Miami, a non-profit networking organization dedicated to the South Florida film community, His tireless efforts through the organization have made him a prominent figure in the local film industry.

Kate Avery – Grant Writer

After her receiving her B.A. from University of Miami, Kate Avery fell in love with the film world. Her skills at screenwriting, special effects makeup artistry, and production work have contributed to many local film productions including Redress, Skip Nation, and In Blood. In 2001, she joined Indie Film Club Miami, a non-profit networking organization dedicated to the South Florida film community. Aside from her many operational duties within the organization, she also pens its weekly newsletter, which offers its members the latest in film events and cast/production calls.

Benito Portes – VP Production

BP is a creative producer, director and artist, who initiated his career more than 10 years ago, selling with his friends a whole TV show (Mochileando) to MUN2, while crossing sophomore year at University. Afterwards he started working as Producer, Writer, Editor and Reporter in the Television and Film Department of Estefan Enterprises. During his tenure at Estefan Enterprises he worked in development of TV shows; which aired on national TV. Also under Estefan Enterprises Benito was in charge of other inside projects in which some of them worked hand to hand with Emilio Estefan. After some very productive years working with Estefan Enterprises, Benito Portes started his solo career working in National and International TV spots as a Director assistant and Producer. In the last few years he has been pushing his Director career being the Second Unit Director of some independent films and Directing several Music Videos and commercials.

Gianfranco Bianchi – Artistic Director

GIFI is a graphic artist whose passion has always been fine art and slowly evolved into digital media, interactive experiences and storytelling. It all began in architecture and now includes short animated films, music videos, VFX, print work and motion graphics. His first short “The Beach Chronicles” was featured at MIFF 2012 and marked the beginning of his quest to merge traditionally drawn artwork into fully articulated 3D environments. He has also been commissioned by the New World Symphony to work on their inaugural Gala videos and their “Symphony After Dark” series. The city of Miami Beach has also commissioned Gianfranco to make the PSA’s for “Sleepless Night” and their new “MB Culture” initiative.

Dvorah Graeser – Marketing Director

Dr. D’vorah Graeser, founder of iTripSocial and Marketing Director of Filmgate, has a strong specialty in trademarks and branding, and came to social media analysis to strengthen her clients’ valuable trademarks and brands. Her background in programming enabled her to drive from correlation to causation in social media, in order to understand how trademarks and messages are perceived by social media users.

Previously, Dr. Graeser founded iMedSocial, a social media analytics startup focused on healthcare. Dr. Graeser earned a B.A. in biochemistry with honors from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Tina Francisco – Filmmaker Coordinator

With her roots in the simplicity of upstate New York, Tina came to South Florida to study at the University of Miami, where she is currently pursuing a B.S. in neuroscience, with minors in philosophy and film. Tina’s interests include piano, music, film, psychology, and creative writing, but her passion lies in the comprehension the eclectic human story; she hopes her scientific, philosophical, and artistic perspectives will help her to gain insight into the human experience, and is excited to be part of a community that is dedicated to just that.

Alexa Prosniewski – Outreach Coordinator

Born and raised in Chicago, Alexa is a senior at the University of Miami double-majoring in Motion Pictures and Art. While screenwriting is her passion, other interests include creative writing, photography, painting, French, fashion, and art history. She strives to combine her knowledge of the arts to further expand her creative curiosity, pushing the boundaries of future projects and the explorations in her everyday life. She’s excited to have discovered the diverse and exciting art world of South Florida, and looks forward to working with the IFCM team in further developing and uniting the independent film community.

Cassandra Chamoun – Social Media Coordinator

Cassandra is excited to explore every aspect of the world. Currently her adventures have led her to Miami, where she is a student at the University of Miami, studying Biology and Sociology. In her spare time she is learning the ever growing trade of Social Media and exploring the culture of Miami. She is excited to learn, explore, and connect with the awesome people of the world.

Vanessa Ortega – Intern

Native of Miami, Vanessa is an 11th grader at iPrep Academy. In middle school Vanessa took courses on graphic design, music, and film. Her current school is a Career and Leadership Academy that incorporates innovative teaching strategies in a technology-rich environment. She is currently the chief editor for her school’s multimedia class. Vanessa’s interest include film, TV production, music, history, dance, and photography. Vanessa is a part of the Miami-Dade County Youth Commission (MDCYC) where she can voice her opinion about current issues, which she hopes can translate to her future projects. She has a developing interest in film and looks forward to learning more about the industry through her internship in IFCM.
