Miami’s most renowned indie filmmakers Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman are having several of their documentaries shown at O Cinema next week, an homage to raconteur’s 10-year anniversary. It will be difficult to find someone in US (or Canada, trust us), who has not seen Cocaine Cowboys by now, but there many more docs to pick from. Their first feature, Raw Deal, was a hit at Sundace and last year they produced four docs, “The U” garnished the highest ever ratings in ESPN’s history. The extended cut for “The U” screens on March 28th.
The two filmmakers have no plans to leave Miami and inspire us with their successful approach of drawing on the abundance of unique and face it, quirky, Miami stories, which they translate into internationally successful pop documentaries. Have you ever been bored watching a racontur film? We haven’t.
